Book 1 – Letter 38 Received September 12, 1942 from Josephine

Posted by dogmom

The next letter is again from Josephine. It appears that they are moving to Philadelphia and “motoring” across the country at 40 mph. I am presuming that they are on Route 66. I wonder what the souvenir was that was sent? Maybe the postcard? It was sent separately but arrived on the same day.

Book 1 – Letter 34 Received August 17, 1942 from Lenore

Posted by dogmom

The next letter is from Lenore. It’s clever but a little hard to read. In summary she talks of seeing the actress Alice Faye and trying to get her autograph. She is going to the movies to see “Yankee Doodle Dandy” and the cost will be $1.10 for adults and 40 cents for children. IMG_43052015_08_05_15_02_14

More evidence of a war and it’s impact to the teenage friends. A tire shortage will block the chance to meet, a distance of about 180 miles separates them.
