Book 1 – Letter 26 Received July 4, 1942 from Mary Wilder

It surprised me to see that Pat got a letter on July 4th which we know is a Federal holiday. This prompted me to look this up and I found that home mail delivery was twice a day to many places until 1950. This letter comes from Mary. Happy Independence day!

Another letter arrives from Lois Jean. You can see from this letter the war is close to home now as 90 boys from Struthers Ohio leave to join the Army with more to leave later and some already there. According to the internet the town of Struthers at that time was less than 12,000 people so this had to have had an intense impact on the community.
